PD103 - Difficult Relationships and Conversations

A stimulating, and engaging one-day workshop designed to build confidence and technical ability to deal with difficult encounters in the workplace.

This course is suitable for: Professional Services, Support & Academic staff

[PhD students please note that this course is intended for members of staff working at the university and does not accrue points towards your PhD’s professional development scheme. It is therefore not generally recommended for PhD Students, and we reserve the right to prioritise places on the course to staff if you do make a booking.

Objectives

By the end of this course, participants should be able to:

  • Appreciate the significance of communication and working styles in maintaining healthy relationships
  • Understand current thinking about emotional dynamics and how they can be managed or mis-managed
  • Master techniques for handling critical conversations
  • Work out your own emotional intelligence profile, understanding its significance and how to enhance it
  • Develop strategies for managing key working relationships
