RC215 - Career options for roles beyond academia

Last year over 50% of QMUL doctoral graduates went on to work in the general labour market right after finishing their PhD. We also know that many postdocs/ECRs will explore options outside of academia after a period in research.
This workshop examines a wide range of career paths outside academia, with a focus on examples of what other QMUL research alumni go on to do next. You’ll reflect on what’s important to you in terms of your work and leave with ideas of how to take your career planning to the next level.
This workshop will:
• Provide you with examples of career options beyond academia
• Illustrate how to secure positions and roles beyond academia
• Help you evaluate your next step and the options open to you
This workshop is relevant for PhDs and ECRs of all disciplines.
Also see RC019 for a workshop focusing on CVs and applications for roles beyond academia.
If you’d like to book a 30 minute, confidential 1-to-1 careers appointment with one of our dedicated Careers Consultants for Researchers then just call 020 7882 8533 and ask for a researcher appointment. You can book up to 2 weeks in advance.
