DC907 - Alternatives to the 'Leaky Pipeline'

Universities produce more PhDs than the higher education sector has the capacity to cope with. Only three or four in every hundred PhD students in the United Kingdom will land a permanent staff position at a university. Most PhD students need to make plans for a life outside academic science.

This panel discussion on the topic of “Alternatives to the leaky pipeline?” will address careers outside academia. The panel will be composed of 3-4 women, all of whom have made a successful career outside of academia once they had finished their PhDs/postdocs.

This event is organised by PhD Student Catherine Webb and the WISE@QMUL committee.
