How do I Register with the QMUL CPD Booking System?

You are free to browse our courses to see what's available without registering. However, before you'll be able to book a place on a course, you will need to register with us.

To register, go to www.cpdbookings.qmul.ac.uk and click Register on the menu bar across the top left hand side of the screen.

You will be presented with a simple registration form which will take a minute or two to complete. Mandatory fields are marked with a blue star (*) and you will be asked to choose your own username and password. Once you have completed the form, click Update at the bottom of the screen and you're done.

The system will automatically log you in and your username and password will be sent to you in an email for future reference. You are now ready to start booking on courses.

Where do I go to log in?

You can get to the login screen by clicking Login on the menu bar across the top left hand side of the screen. Once you have entered your username and password, click on Login and you will be taken to our list of courses.

How do I log out?

Whilst you are logged in, the Log Out button is located towards the top of the screen on the right hand side. Click on it to log out.

Once you have logged out, you will not be able to book onto courses, or view your personal details. However, you are still able to browse our collection of courses to see what's available.

How do I update my personal details?

You can access all of your details by clicking on the My Account option on the menu bar across the top of the screen. You will be presented with all the information you provided when you registered.

Make any changes here and then click Update in the bottom right hand corner to save them.

Please remember to keep all contact details like your email address and telephone number up to date so that we can contact you about your course bookings.

Can I view the courses I've previously attended?

You can see which courses you have booked on or attended by clicking on My Account on the menu bar across the top of the screen. You will be presented with a screen showing your personal details.

On the right hand side, you will see the My CPD Record tab. Click on this to view all the courses you have attended. You will also be able to see courses that you are booked/provisionally booked on, courses you are on the waiting list for, as well as courses that you have cancelled your place on.

This screen also allows you to cancel your place on any course that hasn't taken place yet.

I've forgotten my password, how do I access the system?

If you have forgotten your password, please contact us on cpd@qmul.ac.uk and provide your full name and email address and we will reset and email your password to you.

How do I browse the course programme online?

Browsing our suite of courses is easy. Simply go to www.cpdbookings.qmul.ac.uk and you'll find the full list of courses for the current academic year. You can also reach this screen by clicking on Courses on the menu bar across the top of the screen. The courses are listed in ascending date order with passed or cancelled courses greyed out.

If you are looking for a particular type of course, simply select the course type from the list at the top and click Search.

If you know when you'd like to attend a course, enter the dates in the boxes at the top and click Search.

I've been informed about a course which I'd like to attend, how do I find it on the Booking System?

If you know the course code or title, then go to the Courses screen by clicking on the Courses menu option across the top of the screen.

In the search box at the top, type in either the course code or title into the relevant box and click the Search button on the right.

The course you are looking for will then be listed on this screen.

How do I know if a course is right for me?

Once you have found a course, to view further details about it click on its title or code.

You will then be taken to the Course Detail screen. This screen lists all the information about the course including a short description, who the tutor is, and what you can expect to achieve when you complete the course.

Once you've read this information, if you decide the course is for you, you can book a place by clicking on Book This Course at the bottom of the screen.

I'm searching for courses, but the course types don't make sense

Some acronyms have been used for course types where the full descriptions are too long. Please contact cpd@qmul.ac.uk if you require further information.

How do I book a place on a course?

From the list of courses, once you've found the course you want to attend, you can book a place by clicking on the blue booking icon on the right hand side.

Alternatively, if you are viewing further information about the course on the Course Detail screen, then you can book onto the course by clicking on Book This Course at the bottom of the screen.

Once you have booked on a course, you will receive an email confirming your place and giving you details of the course time and location as well as any pre-course preparation that may be required.

I’ve been booked onto a course provisionally, what happens next?

For some courses we require further information from you before your course booking is confirmed. You will receive an email with further instructions and once the pre-requisites for attending the course have been met you will receive a standard booking confirmation email confirming the booking.

The booking icon isn't available for the course I want to attend, what do I do?

For some courses, it isn't possible to book a place online. If the booking icon isn't available, then you will have to click on the course code or title to access the Course Detail screen. On this screen, you will find information about who you should contact to reserve a place on the course.

How do I cancel my booking?

If you have booked onto a course that you are no longer able to attend, you can cancel your place either through the My CPD Record screen or directly from the course list.

Simply login and click on My Account in the menu bar across the top of the screen. On the right hand side click on the My CPD Record tab. You will see all the courses you are booked/provisionally booked onto listed under the 'Courses I am currently booked/provisionally booked on' sections. Tick the checkbox on the right hand side for any courses you want to cancel and then click on Update at the bottom of the screen.

Alternatively, clicking on Courses on the menu bar across the top of the screen, will take you to the Courses list. From here, you will see a red X icon for those courses you can cancel your place for. Simply click on the X, and click OK to confirm that you wish to cancel your place.

PLEASE NOTE: If you do not cancel your booking, we will expect you to attend. Courses are normally free to QM staff, but your department will be charged the course fee of 40 GBP per hour if you do not attend without good reason.

How do I make multiple bookings for members of my team?

The Booking System has been designed for staff to manage their own bookings, and as such you are only able to make course bookings for yourself. If you need to reserve a number of places for staff who cannot access the system, please contact us by emailing cpd@qmul.ac.uk and ask to make a Block Booking for a course.

I've been placed on the waiting list for a course, what do I do now?

If a course is full when you attempt to book a place, then you will automatically be placed onto the waiting list.

You do not need to take any action at this stage. If a place becomes available, it will automatically be allocated to you and you'll receive an email confirming this.

If you are allocated a place on the course but can no longer attend, please cancel your place in the normal way.

How do I remove myself from the waiting list for a course?

Login to your account and press the 'My Account' tab then press the 'My CPD Record' tab

  • In the 'Courses I'm on the waiting list for' section you will see a list of courses you are currently on the waiting list for
  • Place a tick in the check box to the right of the course you wish to be removed from
  • Scroll to the bottom of the page and click the 'Update' button
  • What is an RSS feed?

    RSS feeds allow you to see when a website has added new content and to get the latest information without having to visit the website you have taken the feed from, such as changes to course dates or additional sessions for a course. To start using a feed you will need a news reader which is a piece of software that checks the feeds and lets you read any new articles that have been added. Examples of popular software include Google Reader and Internet Explorer.

    How can I subscribe to and use the Courses feed?

    Users of the course booking system can subscribe to a feed for all courses by pressing the ‘QMUL Professional Development Courses’ button which appears on the right of the screen above the list of courses running. Staff also may be interested in specific type(s) of course and feeds have been setup for each one. To subscribe go to the ‘Courses’ page and select your preferred ‘Type’ from the drop down menu then press the ‘Search’ button. The title of the feed button will change to reflect the type selected e.g. ‘QMUL Professional Development Courses: Health and Safety’ and pressing the link will subscribe you to feed information on courses falling under that category.

    While viewing feed information using the reader you can find out more information about each course and book a place simply by pressing the hyperlink contained within that course listing. With Internet Explorer you can sort the listing of courses by course title by pressing ‘Title’ button underneath the ‘Sort By’ section. You can also sort by ‘Date’ to reflect the date the course was added/updated on your feed listing.
