PD169b (Online workshop) - Staff Recruitment and Interview Selection

***Please read this in full before booking, as there are prerequisites to attending this session***

O&PD are now running some of our core workshops online, using Microsoft Teams. After you book, we’ll send you a link 24 hours prior to joining the session at the scheduled time.

*Pre-requisite*: Before attending, you will need to complete the Staff Recruitment & Selection e-learning and assessment. The e-learning module is available on QMPlus and will take 60-90 minutes to complete:

If you have attended a recruitment and selection course at QMUL, or recruitment training at a previous institution, in the last 2 years the e-learning on its own will suffice and replace the recruitment refresher workshop - but you are still welcome to attend this course in addition.

The workshop focuses on building practical skills to recruit staff fairly and effectively through
• Clearly defining the person specification
• Identifying the most appropriate selection methods and criteria
• Devising competency based questions
• Structuring a successful interview, and other selection methods
• Making decisions effectively and without bias.

*Entry requirements:*
• You will need to accept the calendar invitation at least 24 hours before the webinar takes place. Please do not forward the invitation.
• This course is only designed to train those on interview panels responsible for recruiting new members of staff and is NOT suitable for PhD or student selection. There will be a new course (not yet bookable on the system) that will be suited to PhD recruitment practices.
• This course is only suitable for members of staff at QM (we cannot offer places to Research or Masters students).

Selected data from the registers for this training may be used to contribute to statistical reports published by QMUL. The Records Retention Schedule and Privacy Policy are applicable to the use of this training data: and
