RD120 - Being an Effective Doctoral Researcher

A doctorate is a long and winding journey, and because of the extended timescale researchers often don’t focus on what it means to be effective until it is almost too late. This workshop will give you a set of tools that will allow you to focus effectively on your work, so as to get the most from the doctoral experience. The workshop might cover: how to get started on a research project; managing your time and project; handling the information and literature; building a productive supervisory relationship; preparing for formal procedural meetings. The workshop definitely will be structured around your questions, your issues and the direction you want to take – not just a set of pre-prepared slides.
