RD104 - Critical Thinking

Audience: PhD students

This workshops will help postgraduate research students develop their logical argumentation and analysis skills.

By the end of this course, participants should be able to:

  • Identify common logical fallacies in academic and popular writing (both in their own work and in that of others)
  • Understand some of the reasons why such fallacious reasoning occurs and is persuasive and what the consequences can be
  • Develop a grounding for a critical reading and thinking approach
