RD022 - Reducing Stress with Mindfulness Meditation

Audience: All researchers (including staff and PhD students)

The third of four workshops designed to help researchers build psychological robustness. Mindfulness can be defined as the practice of paying attention, without judgement, to things as they actually are in the present moment. Researchers are discovering that practising mindfulness can deliver significant benefits to our sense of wellbeing and to our performance in various aspects of our lives. In this workshop we will explore the latest research findings regarding mindfulness, particularly relating to Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy, developed by researchers at the University of Oxford. Participants will leave the workshop with some really practical ideas about how they can use mindfulness meditation to reduce feelings of stress and anxiety. (Please note this workshop was previously entitled: Mindfulness for Academic Success.)
