Course Detail

PD130 - Effective Time Management for Staff

Staff are invited to participate in this course (apologies, we will not accept bookings from PHD students or students at any level and may verify your staff role to confirm or cancel your booking).

The course aims to help people who are always ‘busy-being-busy’ but who somehow fail to get results. It recognises that you cannot manage time - but that you can manage your choices about what to do and when to do it. The course focuses on planning (what you have to do), prioritisation (what you have to do first) and diary management (linking your plans and priorities to your diary in order to achieve results). It also discusses the importance of achieving a successful and harmonious work-life balance.

This course is suitable for: Professional Services, Support & Academic staff

PhD students please note that this course is intended for members of staff working at the university and does not accrue points towards your PhD’s professional development scheme.

By the end of this course, participants should be able to:

  • Understand the difference between being busy and achieving results
  • Learn techniques to help you prioritise your workload and get control of your in-box and to-do list
  • Stay focused: dealing with interruptions and distractions
  • Develop a proactive approach to short, medium and long term planning and scheduling
