PD003 - Becoming a QMUL workplace coach: Expression of Interest List only

Please note: this is NOT an offer of a course place and the course will not start on the date given (30 November). This list is intended to gather initial staff interest only.

QMUL has a network of volunteer workplace coaches. We are able to offer a small number of training places (12 approx.) to those who would like to train for an accredited qualification in Workplace Coaching and Mentoring, in order to practise as part of this network.

The next start date for the ilm Level 5 Certificate in Coaching and Mentoring is planned to start early in 2020. This is a rewarding qualification but it requires significant time commitment and self-awareness.

It will best suit those who are outgoing, disciplined, motivated by helping others to achieve their potential, and will draw on personal qualities such as empathy, self-awareness, resilience, discretion and reflective practice. There will be a pre-enrolment selection process to assess suitability for the course. In return for funding the training, we would expect qualified practitioners to play a full part in our coaching network afterwards (and as part of their training), which is often in high demand from staff at all levels.

The qualification will be awarded on the basis of a combination of taught hours, written assignments, and CPD activity. The course lasts approx. 12-18 months. The O&PD team would cover training costs and provide support, tools and networks for you to develop your skills. Your line manager would need to be supportive in regard to the time needed to attend training and coaching sessions.

We are unable to offer these courses to students without a staffing role at QMUL at any level and selection meetings will be carried out in November '19 to determine the places on the course.

Please see for more specific details of these accredited qualifications and credit requirements, using 'Coaching' as the search term.
