RS417 (POSTPONED Until further notice) - Introduction to Community Engagement

In this workshop we discuss how different forms of community engagement can serve as effective means to engage with a public in a variety of ways and contribute to the community around QMUL.

During this session we will discuss several examples of good practice from QMUL and UK researchers who have worked with community organisations to not only engage with a community, but to also inform and contribute to the research process.

Finally, we will also discuss practical and logistical elements in planning and running this kind of public engagement activity, and explore ways to evidence the impact of your community engagement.

By the end of this course, participants should be able to:

  • Understand how engaging with your local community fits into the landscape of public engagement
  • Identify examples of good practice in the area both within QMUL and nationwide
  • Become more acquainted with the relevant tools and techniques to maximise the impact of your community engagement
  • Have gained Insight on how to evidence community engagement, and potential aims and metrics
