HS016 - Fire Marshal Training

This course is designed for QMUL staff to act in the role of Fire Marshals. The course will teach candidates about the causes and effects of fire and how it spreads. Fire Marshals are expected to act as eyes and ears within their workplace by identifying potential fire hazards, carrying out weekly checks, reporting defects and assisting in the evacuation of occupied buildings. The course is theoretical and practical with training given in the selection and application of portable fire-fighting equipment.
Duration: 10:00- 14:00 (Candidates can bring packed lunch with them if required).

Certification: A short quiz with a 70% pass mark required and practical fire training. A certificate valid for two years is provided.

Suitability: For Nominated Persons who have completed the mandatory Fire Safety Awareness course available on QM Plus and are permanently based within a building, to assist in the evacuation of relevant persons from their area in the event of a fire alarm activation, identify fire hazards and deficiencies in fire safety measures and take appropriate action.

Requalification / Refresher: Fire Marshal Refresher Training must be repeated every 2 yrs this is an e-learning package located in the Fire Safety Module on QMPlus.
